Gauterine Solar Home Lighting Project
Posted: Sep 10 2014
The people of Gauterine represent the poorest strata of Indian society. They have no access to the electrical grid and earn an average daily income of less than 2 dollars a day. Through our newly established NGO The Solar Village Project we are working to bring light and electricity to those in need one village at a time.
We first began working with Gauterine village 2 years ago and in that time have successfully implemented the initial phase of the project by installing a solar power system for the village school. The first and only source of power currently available in the village. The solar power system we set up in the school is capable of running lights, a ceiling fan, charging cell phones and also running the Raspberry Pi computers we set up in the second phase of our project.
In July of 2014 The Solar Village Project initiated the 3rd phase our our project by distributing 75 Solar Home Lighting Systems in Gauterine village bringing light to the peoples homes for the first time.
